Jim can’t believe this and cries out to Judai but he just gives him the silent treatment and that’s rather frightening. It’s like Judai doesn’t remember who he is or recognize Jim.

This scene….uuuugh. I knew it was coming the first time I watched it because I had seen spoilers for GX but it still hurt.  Just the way that Judai just stares at them while Jim is freaking out, because there is no way his friend can be the same person that he was just hating with all his soul a few minutes ago.

And Judai just stares at him, not responding; like, does he even recognize Jim?  I feel like at the point where Judai became Haou, he was just so mentally broken that he never wanted to feel anything again, and because he has so much magic, it reacted to that wish and he literally created armor for himself, turning himself into this cold, indifferent person that doesn’t feel anything anymore, so he doesn’t have to feel pain anymore….

I hate it when people diss GX for being silly because gorrammit this show is deep and heart-rending.

This whole arc just makes me want to cry. I feel so badly for Judai. And then poor his friends seeing him like this as their enemy. This whole season didn’t just break my heart, it shattered my heart.

se-to-oh

Maybe there was a chance that Judai honestly didn’t recognized his friends at that point. It might be only my own speculation, but in order to protect himself his psyche might had started disassociating itself, forming this Supreme King persona.

At first, it was shaped differently than he was, without any noticeable features before turning into him. It was a presence hidden within him, that he didn’t wanted to acknowledge. Once those feelings surfaced, it became him and with that Judai’s consciousness drifted away to avoid being destructed any further. Judai isolated himself to avoid getting hurt anymore because he couldn’t take it. At all.
